Get ready for a fun filled day learning about Hawaii's culture and people while touring the beautiful Island of Oahu. Your day begins with a visit to one of the largest fishponds on Oahu, located in picturesque Hawaii Kai. There, you’ll learn how ancient Hawaiians used the fishponds to trap and catch fish, necessary to feed the growing population.
You’ll head East toward Makapuu, where you’ll explore the rock formation known as Pele’s Chair, as well as towering Koko Head. There, you’ll learn about the history, cultural significance, and local lore surrounding the “chair” that overlooks the ocean below.
Prepare to be amazed at your next stop, which includes exploring an ancient Hawaiian heiau, otherwise known as a Hawaiian temple. The Makapuu Heiau, located near Makapuu Beach Park, is a site still sacred to the Hawaiian people and recently preserved and cared-for by the locals.
As you round the windward side of Oahu, your next stop is in the bustling beach town of Kailua, where you’ll visit the Ulupo Heiau, considered a State Historic Site in Hawaii. Here, you can explore the area, which served as a religious site for Native Hawaiians.
From Kailua, it’s a short drive to the incredible Pali Lookout, site of the history-changing Battle of Nuuanu. There, in 1795, King Kamehameha I won the struggle that finally united Oahu under his rule. This fierce battle claimed hundreds of soldiers’ lives, many of whom were forced off the Pali’s sheer cliffs!
As you round-out your tour, your guide will take you to your last stop, you’ll visit the grounds of the beautiful and serene Iolani Palace. Iolani Palace may be best known as the home where Hawaii’s last reigning monarch.

These highly maneuverable, military Zodiacs can get you close up to the many lava tubes, sea caves and blow holes of this rugged coastline. Keep a sharp eye, for you will see and encounter pods of Hawaiian spinner dolphins, sea turtles and (from December to April) humpback whales! Captain Zodiac Rafting Adventures' newest tours is an awesome 5-hour midday excursion. Arriving in Kealakekua Bay when other morning tours are departing allows for far fewer people in the bay and a much more exclusive snorkeling experience. Departing in the late morning from Honokohau, venture along the coastline towards Kealakekua Bay.

Along the way there may be close up experiences with pods of spinner dolphins and perhaps pilot whales, bottle nose dolphins, manta rays and (from December to April) even Humpback Whales! Kealakekua Bay is a marine preserve with hundreds of variets of fish and coral. its calm and clear waters offer 100+ feet visibility. It is also the sites of the Captain Cook Monument commemorating the first contact with Europeans. You will learn about the rich Hawaiian history of this area.

After snorkeling enjoy a box lunch and fresh fruit.

On the way back, visit some of the sea caves, view archways cut from the rugged lava and perhaps see a blowhole in action.

Ancient Hawaiians used Kona, on the island of Hawaii, as the main capital city during the reign of King Kamehameha the Great. The area is rich with Hawaiian folklore and stories. From land divisions, ancient fishponds, Heiau-temples, and royal palaces, we will take you on a journey through this historic area. Pickups at all locations in Kona and south, including Kona and Keauhou.

Kailua-Kona is rich in history and culture because of the heavy influence Kamehameha I had on the area. After he conquered the Hawaiian Islands, he made his home in Kona. During his reign, the city prospered with the influence of trade from foreigners, missionary arrivals and new beginnings.

Let our cultural guides, take you on an adventure and observe the rich history of this area from agriculture, Hawaiian fishponds, religious practices, royal influences and the impact of modernization. One of our stops is a favorite amongst visitors. Puuhonua O Honaunau, the place of refuge, is a complex of archeological sites including: temple platforms, royal fishponds, sledding tracks, and some coastal village sites. This place was special for those who were kapu, law, breakers. It was a place they would escape harm. We continue our journey through many Heiau-temples and significant burial grounds that helps grasp the way the ancient Hawaiians lived.

To wrap up our cultural tour, we head to the Royal Palace, Hulihe’e. The Royal retreat for the Ali’I, Chiefs and Chiefess, of old Hawaii. The Palace was originally built by High Chief, John Adams Kuakini, Governor of the island of Hawai‘i during the Kingdom of Hawai‘i. The Palace features beautiful koa wood furniture, ornaments, portraits, kapa, feather work, Hawaiian quilts and artifacts from Hawai‘i’s royal past. Hulihe‘e Palace consists of six large graciously appointed rooms, two large inviting oceanfront lanai and lovely grounds. Off in the distance, you can see the remaining structure of Ahu’ena Heiau. This Heiau was the home of King Kamehameha I. The Heiau represented peace and prosperity. This heiau is so sacred that no one can set foot on the heiau structure.
