Allerton Garden is a landscape architecture masterpiece named one of the ’50 Places of a Lifetime’  by National Geographic Traveler.

Guided tours of the Allerton Garden are part garden tour, part art exhibit and entirely unique. Visitors are guided through expertly crafted garden rooms that feature exotic plants, sculptures, and water features.

Allerton Garden also has a rich history as a Hollywood film location for many notable movies and TV shows. See the towering roots of the famous Moreton Bay fig trees featured in blockbusters like Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean.

All Allerton Garden visits begin with a short, scenic bus ride into the valley. Departures daily, every hour, starting at 9:00 am.  Duration is approximately 2.5 hours. Last guided tour into Allerton Garden is at 3:00 pm.

Visit: Allerton Garden, 4425 Lawai Road, Poipu, Kauai, HI 96741

RELAX, CONNECT, BE INSPIRED

Tour the garden to see towering rainforest trees with tall curving roots that grow near bronze mermaids, a grove of swaying golden bamboo, a cut-flower garden, and tropical fruit trees. Here the focus is on landscape design, but among the plantings are botanically important species of the tropics, including varieties of palms, ki (ti), heliconias, and gingers.

Nestled in the stunning Lawai Valley, Allerton Garden as we know it today has a rich history of philanthropy, art, and botanical curiosity that begins with Robert Allerton.

Robert was an aspiring artist, a philanthropist, and “the richest bachelor in Chicago,” but it wasn’t until he became an amateur landscape architect that he discovered his life’s purpose – to become a patron of the arts.  In 1938 Robert purchased 83 acres of the valley with his lifetime companion and adopted son John Gregg, and created his garden paradise.  Together they transformed the grounds to become a living museum of curated plant collections, priceless art, and water features.

The Sphere - The mystery and migration of humpback whales are presented through interactive exhibits, displays, and a virtual whale encounter in the Sphere Theater. The use of active 3D glasses and 4k imagery generated by multiple laser projects, backed by a dynamic 7.1 surround system, blurs the lines of reality and enables viewers to experience Maui’s humpback whales in their own environment. *Children must be accompanied by a paying adult and must be 4 years of age or older to participate.*

Visit: Maui Ocean Center, 192 Maalaea Rd Hwy 30, Ma'alaea Harbor, Wailuku, Maui, HI 96793-5931

Immerse yourself in their world, a blue frontier bounded by the wonder and majesty of the humpback whale. Embarking on one of the greatest journeys from the arctic waters of Alaska to sanctuary in the Hawaiian Islands, these nomads of the sea are revered in beauty, intelligence, spirituality, and awe-inspiring power - yet, hold one of nature’s most profound mysteries.

The Maui Ocean Center Humpbacks of Hawaii Exhibit & Sphere explores this great mystery in a captivating, inspirational experience that will leave you with more questions than answers. Until now, we’ve only been able to see humpbacks from above the ocean surface. Today, Maui Ocean Center’s Sphere breaks the barrier to do what has never been done before: bring you eye-to-eye with Maui’s humpback whales in their realm beneath the waves.

The collective experience stirs one’s emotions from admiration to curiosity, forging a new connection between mankind and nature’s marvels. The Humpbacks of Hawaii Exhibit & Sphere is the first of its kind in Hawaii, adding an exciting chapter to the story and legacy of Hawaii's humpback whales.
• The exhibit hall will focus on the whales’ nomadic lifestyle and migration routes taken globally, regionally, and within Hawaii, underlining the fact that it is a creature in constant travel. It will highlight the whale’s behaviors at any given point of their migration while explaining the different roles they engage in.
• Then, visitors will have the opportunity to enter the Sphere to experience these behaviors in a one-of-a-kind, virtual encounter with Maui’s humpback whales in their own environment.
• The Sphere is designed to create an experience “too big for a tank”, humpback whales will come to life through active 3D glasses and 4k imagery produced by multiple laser projectors. The virtual experience utilizes the most advanced systems in lenses and seaming technology.

Join us on a guided bicycle adventure of Kilauea Volcano's new eruption area, the East Rift Zone.  See where all action took place from the eruption of 2018. We will see where the 2018 lave flow entered the ocean and created a new Black Sand Beach and Thermal Hot Ponds. We will bike along on a coastal country road where we will see lava flows from 1955 and 1990 eruptions, bike through lush tropical jungles, tree tunnels, old coconut groves, see spectacular ocean views. In addition, we will hike out to a black sand beach created in the 1990 eruption and have lunch or dinner in the lava devastated village o destroyed in this eruption.

Visit: Bike Volcano, 71 Banyan Dr, Hilo, Island of Hawaii, HI 96720-4693

You will be picked from one of our convenient meeting location then  taken into the volcanic eruption zone by van to our bicycle starting point.  Our exciting bicycle adventure begins at the Star of the Sea Painted Church, which was saved from the 1990 lava flow that destroyed the town of Kalapana.  There you will be fitted with a bicycle and helmet, then receive a short safety orientation.   We will begin our journey on the renown “Red Road”, a less traveled road along the coastline of the lower Puna district.   Although few visitors have discovered this area, it is thought to be one most of the most scenic roads in the State of Hawaii.

Our Interpretive Guide will stop at various historic eruption points along our course and provide you with information about the 1955 and 1990 eruptions and other significant events that have taken place in this area as we bike towards the new eruption area.   We will bike though the most spectacular scenery reminiscent of the old Hawaii of yesterday as it is located in a remote and sparsely populated part of the Big Island.  See lush coconut groves, tropical jungles, and bike through tree tunnels in this majestic paradise.

Time to relax, our air condition van will then take us on a short drive to have a delectable lunch. Following lunch we will take a short hike to Kaimu Black Sand Beach, created in the 1990 eruption.  For our finale, we will travel by van to witness Active Lava Flow (volcano and County of Hawaii access dependent).

The volcano zone district is forever changing. This may be your last chance to see this beautiful unspoiled part of the island in its untouched grandeur before Madame Pele (the Volcano Goddess) decides to retake and recreate it.
